DAVID ELSE As a full-time professional travel writer, David has authored more than 20 guidebooks, including Lonely Planet's Great Britain and Wolking in Britain. His knowledge of England comes from a lifetime of travel around the country -often on foot or by bike - a passion dating from university, when heading for the hills was more attractive than visiting the library.
